Co-creation of an exhibition with Local Partners

We successfully conducted the first meeting with local partners, involving one member of the Neighbour Association, a chef and nutritionist, and a member of the Native Seed Production Association, to discuss ideas and raise suggestions for the exhibition.

In May 2017, National Museum of Natural History and Science, University of Lisbon held their first meeting to engage local partners in the development of ideas for our BigPicnic exhibition and its associated activities. During this event, we conducted a focus group, including a representative member of the Neighbour Association “Boa Vizinhança”, a chef and nutritionist from the “Escola de Hotelaria de Lisboa”, and a member of the Native Seed Production Association “Colher para Semear”.

During the first part of the meeting, we asked the participants to write down on post-its the three words that best described or represented their ideas regarding food security, nutrition and sustainable food. Throughout the activity, we discussed their thoughts, and at the end of the meeting we asked for ideas and suggestions for the project.

The focus group worked successfully as it prompted the discussion of these issues. Due to the small size of the group, the participants were highly involved and we were able to discuss all the ideas in-depth, resulting in a wide variety of ideas for the content and organisation of the exhibition.

We need to follow up this meeting for the organization of future co-creation sessions.
